What is Funplugit?

We are a box subscription service that ships do-it-yourself (DIY) projects and activities to homes in an effort to foster fun and unplugged quality time among family members and loved ones. Life is already complicated enough, so we aim for simplicity and fostering family collaboration and creativity.

At Funplugit, we are not anti-technology. We love technology. Instead, we want subscriber families to “unplug” every now and then--at least once-a-month--with the people they love. Let’s start a Funplugit revolution! As a society, adults and kids alike, our schedules are so demanding and technology-consumed that we rarely take meaningful time to slow down and decompress with those around us.

When asked if his kids loved the iPad, the late Steve Jobs’ response was, “we limit how much technology our kids use at home.” He, of all people, may have been making a wise, yet unintentional recommendation. It’s time for us all to occasionally pause for some unplugged fun together.

What is inside a Funplugit subscription box?

By subscribing to Funplugit, each month subscribers, “Funpluggers”, will receive a SURPRISE box-by-mail filled with a fun art project, science project, or game intended to foster technology-free family time together. Checkout our Funplugit Boxes board on Pinterest for examples of the type of activities we will be sending your family!

Each family’s first box will include (1) a family pledge that each family member signs memorializing their commitment to Funplugit as a family once-a-month. Boxes will also include (2) a brief description of the activity, (3) a bookmark of educational facts related to the activity, (4) instructions for completing the project or game, and (5) the unique materials needed to participate in/complete the activity together. We use ASTM D4236 conforming art materials in our activity boxes, and we are VERY proud that all of our boxes are assembled in the USA by hardworking Americans!

When should we complete each month’s Funplugit project?

Just sign the pledge to funplug and complete your project at a time convenient for your entire family! We send you the box, you schedule your own Funplugit time! This is your family time! Each box intended to bring your family together for 20-60 minutes per month! We keep our activity length short because we fully understand the attention span of young kids and the difficulty of getting the entire family together for an extended period of time!

How did you come up with the Funplugit name?

We wanted a name that made it plainly clear what we’re about--unplugged fun!

What type of family is Funplugit geared toward?

Any family can be a Funplugit family. No matter your family’s make-up, we’re confident that we can help your family get back to the basics of family quality time by putting gadgets aside for some much needed uninterrupted bonding time. We tailor our projects to cater to families with children, ages 3 to 10, so that each member of the family can contribute to the project’s completion. It is our experience that the young kiddos like to handle the messy tasks while their parents and older siblings guide them along the way and handle the more advanced tasks. There is certainly a way for the entire family to be involved in all of our projects and games!

What if DIY projects aren’t my thing?

Anyone who knows Funplugit’s founder knows she is no DIY type of gal, but when it came to spending quality time with her family, she decided to give it a try. As it turns out, doing something you’re not very good at can be loads of fun with the people you love and want to make happy! Funplugit makes it easy to bring those cool projects you see on Pinterest directly to your home on a regular basis!

Do you send me everything I need to complete the project?

Yes! We send you everything you need (with the exception of standard household items like tap water, scissors, a microwave or other heating source, etc.). The only other items that we recommend you keep on hand are an old sheet or some old newspapers with which you can cover your table or working surface to minimize damage from glue, paint, markers, etc.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is absolutely FREE with all of our subscriptions.  We ship boxes out the first week of every month. We currently use USPS, UPS, or FedEx to ship all orders, but that is subject to change at any time as carrier rates change. If you need to send a gift and want to ensure it is received in time, please email customercare@funplugit.com and we will be happy to try to assist you with your request.

Unfortunately, we are unable to ship outside of the contiguous United States at the moment, but we are making all efforts to figure out how we can get shipments to customers abroad at a reasonable price! It is quite a bummer that it is so expensive to ship internationally (and domestically)!

How do I contact Funplugit?

The best way to contact us is via email at customercare@funplugit.com. We make all efforts to reply to your email within 72 hours of receipt. You may also leave us a voicemail at 713-742-2226. We will make all efforts to return your call within 48 hours of receipt.

How do I update my billing information?

Easy! Just login to your user account and make the changes you need to make.

Can I change my shipping frequency?

Absolutely! We understand that your needs may change. Just login to your account and make the changes you need to make.

Can I skip a shipment?

Sure. That’s no problem for month-to-month subscriptions.  Just login to your account to adjust your shipping preferences.

How do I renew my subscription?

Your current subscription will renew automatically unless you indicate otherwise by logging into your account and making the desired change to your subscription.

Can I cancel my membership?

Well, we certainly don’t want to see you go, but you are well within your rights to cancel anytime. Just remember, we must receive your cancellation request before your next shipment ships. Unfortunately, gift subscriptions cannot be canceled once placed and are nonrefundable. Yearly subscriptions will be refunded on a prorated basis beyond a month after you initiate cancellation. We do not want cancellation to be complicated for you, so if you have any issues, please reach out to us at customercare@funplugit.com .

Can I give Funplugit as a gift?

Sure! Click on the “Gift” link at the top of our website, enter the recipient’s information, choose the subscription level you would like to gift, complete the gift message, and click submit! The first box of gifted subscriptions will have a big red bow and personalized note inside of them!

How do I report a problem with my box?

By all means, contact us immediately at customercare@funplugit.com so that we can do right by our loyal Funpluggers!

How can I give feedback about my subscription?

Can I submit ideas for Funplugit activities?

Of course, we love to hear from our Funplugit subscribers! Some of our best ideas come from our subscribers! If we decide to use your idea in a Funplugit box, your next Funplugit box is free! Post your ideas to our social media accounts or send your ideas to customercare@funplugit.com .
